The first race 2006 began with alot of changes. First is our new car hauler/moble work shop, a 79 Ford school bus. Second were the 3 new cars for Lisa, Barb, and Bill. Third we would be running most of our raced with the Smudders offroad club. And forth was the new points series GS Motorsprots has put in place. A 5 race series to decide the best off road racer in the area. should make for an interesting year....
In the first heat Bill made only one lap before losing a strap on his gas tank and forcing him out.
OTW faired much better in the 2nd heat. Lisa lead right off the start and fought hard to hold Wayne and Barb off. Wanye finally worked his way around her, and Barb pushed her way through a lap later leading to a strong 1-2-3 finish for us in the heat.
In a scary start to the feature Barbs car broke loose and was t-boned knocking her out. There were some tence moments as she was removed from the car and taken by ambulance to the hospital. On the restart Bill broke his other strap and coasted to a stop on the first lap. Wayne used his outside poll start to lead his old, reliable car to a 2nd place finish. Due to some still unknown mechanical problems Lisa was unable to make the feature. Barb was released from the hospital a few hours later with a minor concussion, but otherwise uninjured.
